Questions parents ask us most often. If yours is not here, call or text the studio at 512-327-4130.
What ages do you teach?
Ages 2 through adult, beginner through pre-professional. Weekly classes are grouped by age: 2-3, 3-5, 4-6, 6-8, 8-10, 10-13 and 12-17, plus adult classes for ages 19 and up. Preschool and toddler classes have their own page: dance classes for ages 2 to 6.
What class should my 11, 12 or 13 year old take?
Most 11, 12 and 13 year olds join our 10-13 group. Those classes include jazz, contemporary, hip hop and intermediate hip hop, turns and leaps, preteen drill team, prepointe and beginner pointe, stretch and conditioning, and acro. They run Monday through Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. Dancers who want more training can be placed in the SDC Dance Company.
Do we need to audition?
Not for weekly classes. Those are open enrollment: you choose a class for your dancer’s age group and register online. The SDC Dance Company does require an audition. Placement within the company also takes previous dance experience, interest and drive into account.
What does it cost?
Tuition is billed monthly based on hours per week: 1 hour is $96, 1.25 hours $116, 1.5 hours $136, 2 hours $177, 3 hours $253, 4 hours $318, 5 hours $369, 6 hours $409 and 6.5 or more hours $430. There is an annual registration fee of $55 for the first child and $20 for each additional child, and a 10% sibling discount on tuition for the second and subsequent children.
Do you offer a trial class?
Yes, and the first one is free. New families get one age-appropriate class at no cost. Book it by creating an account in our registration portal and requesting a trial class, by calling or texting 512-327-4130, or by emailing frontdesk@synergydancestudio.com.
Do parents stay during class?
Whichever you prefer. Our lobbies have one-way mirror glass, so you can watch the whole class without your dancer being distracted. Plenty of parents drop off instead and use the time to run errands or visit with the other parents.
What should my dancer wear to the first class?
For ballet, tap and combo classes: any color leotard with tights or bike shorts, pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes. Jazz classes add black slip-on jazz shoes. Hip hop dancers wear loose clothing and clean tennis or dance sneakers that are not worn outside. Contemporary is danced barefoot. Bring a water bottle, put a name in every shoe, wear hair in a ponytail and leave jewelry at home.
Where are you located and what areas do you serve?
Synergy Dance Studio is at 3425 Bee Caves Rd, Austin, TX 78746, in Westlake. We serve West Lake Hills, Rollingwood, Bee Cave, Lakeway and greater Austin.
When does registration open, and can we join mid-year?
Registration is open online year-round through our registration portal. The dance year runs from August through May, and summer registration is prorated. If your dancer joins after the first lesson of a month, that first month of tuition is prorated too.
Is there a recital? Is it required?
There are two performances a year, one in December and a spring recital. Adults, technique-only classes and Combo 2-3 year old classes do not participate in them; Combo 2-3 performs in class in December and at a local nursing home in May. For the December performance there is a $55 individual or $75 family fee, plus $50 per dance per dancer for a simple outfit, due October 1. For the spring recital there is an $85 to $90 costume fee due January 15 and a $75 individual or $95 family performance fee due April 1.
Do you have a competition team?
Yes. The SDC Dance Company begins in August and is designed for dancers who are more serious about training and performing. Company placement is by audition. Company dancers attend master classes, dance conventions and competitions. We also offer preteen and advanced drill team.
How do I register?
